Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of personalities, and a gripping narrative including angels, fiends, and dark forces increasing in influence within the city.
Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of the new season lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The latest chapter ended with a major cliffhanger and introduced the initial group of characters who will split off from the main group to embark on their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.
This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (played by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).
The Reason for Division
With a large ensemble, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be unworkable.
Hence, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for participants who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment demonstrate why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the group knows exactly where to head next after a intense initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose demise started the campaign’s events—exploited The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into the hidden lair, attacking the character, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.
Casimir then settled his debts and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the city, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each character has a individual motive to leave the city the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and best friend, wants revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the region and warns that it is a hostile location.
- The strong character and The cleric, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their reputation as prominent individuals in the influential clan could help the group reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, Teor swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his deliverance and will now follow him everywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule the city for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- Thimble and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and The healer betrayed the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The target is wanted dead by the clan.
This means them no alternative but to journey toward the remote area in quest for Casimir.
What’s Next?
From episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to round up the Seekers and Schemers tables.
Viewers can expect discovering which players will be where in the story’s last Overture episode, available to watch on October 24.
