Lando Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session

The McLaren driver edged out fellow driver and title rival Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.

The British racer, who seized the title advantage from Piastri by just one point after taking the win in Mexico City recently, topped the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.

Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver during the running before the sprint shootout due at 18:30 GMT.

The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in the points battle, trailing 36 points behind Norris, finished in 17th position as his Red Bull team followed a unique setup.

His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to have an incident, if briefly, when he rotated at the fourth corner early in the session.

Tsunoda spun out over the curbs on exit before spinning across the escape zone, and was blessed to avoid just a light touch of the wall.

The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the very end of the practice, spinning around through the fast downhill Mergulho turn before the final bend on to the main straight.

The veteran wrapped up in P19, one place behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.

The McLaren pair were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's car third fastest, 0.619 seconds behind the Australian's time.

Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
